SPOTLIGHT ON COUNTRY THUNDER SASKATCHEWAN

Country Thunder was held in Craven, Saskatchewan on July 12 - 15, 2018.
Country Thunder Saskatchewan started Thursday night with long time favorites William and Ree. Clay Walker followed them he made his debut in 1993 with the single “What’s It To You” which reached #1 also the next single in 1994 “Live Until I Die”. He has charted 30 country singles, including six #1. 2019 next year he will be 50 and he is still going strong. Then Big and Rich went on the stage the duo of Big Kenny and John Rich they are both song writers, vocalists and guitarists. They have recorded together and separate to have a successful career.
Friday at noon started with a big fly over by the Snowbirds out of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. They also gave the Country Thunder Saskatchewan fans a thrill for a fly over on Saturday and Sunday also. El Guitaro featuring Jason Plumb is a Canadian singer-songwriter living in Regina Saskatchewan. He performed with his backing band called The Willing. Hunter Brothers from Shaunovon, Saskatchewan composed of brothers Luke, JJ, Ty, Brock and Dusty Hunter. They grew up in a busy household as their parents were gospel singer and music was a priority. They are very sports minded family with farming as a family commitment. Lanco is an American country music band consisting of Brandon Lancaster (lead vocals), Chandler Baldwin (bass guitar), Jared Hampton ( keyboards), Tripp Howell ( drums) and Eric Steedly (guitar). The band’s name is short for Lancaster and Company. Chris Janson is a country music singer and songwriter who was born in Perryville, Missouri. He has written songs with Tim McGraw and many others. Multitalented musician able to perform skillfully and multiple instruments. Dierks Bentley (Frederick Dierks Bentley) he was born in Phoenix, Arizona, his middle name Dierks (which he now uses as his first name publicly) is also his maternal great-grandmother’s surname. Dierks own bars in Nashville and Scottsdale.
The Good Brothers were the opening act on Saturday they are a Canadian country, bluegrass and folk music group originating in Ontario. The band members are Brian and Bruce they are twin brothers and the younger brother is Larry. Lindsay Ell is a Canadian country singer, songwriter and guitarist from Calgary, Alberta. Her range is from rock, blues, and pop. Tracy Lawrence was born in Atlanta, Texas always love of music as he wrote his first song when he was four years old, his mother had to write it down the lyrics for him. He kept trying to have a career in music and got his break when he performed at the Bluebird Café and met Wayne Edwards who became his manager. Dean Brody was born in British Columbia, as a boy he worked at a sawmill, also continued to play his guitar. To follow his love of music moved to Nashville to pursue his dream. He now has won 16 CCMA Awards and 2 Juno Awards. Chris Young closing Saturday night show at Country Thunder. His career really took off after he won Nashville Star a singing competition in 2006. He was signed to RCA Records Nashville.
Sunday the last day of the festival, Roots and Boots started off the afternoon they are the three country legends Sammy Kershaw, Aaron Tippin, Collin Raye. They have 14 # 1 songs, 16 Gold Platinum awards among the three of them. They put on a fantastic show from the past. Jess Moskaluke is a Canadian country pop singer who won the Big Dog 92.7 and Saskatchewan Music contest Next Big Thing. Also won the New Artist Show case award at the Canadian Country Music Association. Her Platinum-certified single “Cheap Wine and Cigarettes” was a hit with the crowd. Midland was formed in 2016 in Dripping Springs, Texas consisting of Mark Wystrach (lead vocals), Cameron Duddy (bass guitar, background vocals) and Jess Carson (lead guitar, background vocals). Midland chose there name after Dwight Yoakam song “Fair to Midland”. Luke Bryan closes the festival with a standing crow applause. He began his career writing songs for high school friends Travis Tritt and Billy Currington. Bryan moved to Nashville in 2007 after his dad told him to follow his dreams.
