Celebrity Softball Challenge

Sponsored by Wrangler~and presented by WSM-FM and WSIX, this year's Celebrity Softball Challenge was held on Sunday, June 14th at Nashville's Greer Stadium. This event, which has become the unofficial kick-off to Fan Fair week, has raised over one million dollars to support City of Hope in its commitment to prevent and cure cancer and a host of other life-threatening diseases.

Every year since 1991, the six-inning softball game draws sell-out crowds who come to watch the top artists in country music pitch, hit and sing to support City of Hope. Throughout the day, fans may visit the silent auction, where they may bid on a wide assortment of items donated by country music artists.

Past participants in this all-star event have included: Vince Gill, Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire, Wynonna, Trisha Yearwood, Clint Black, Tanya Tucker, Billy Ray Cyrus, Kathy Mattea, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Joe Diffie and Shania Twain - to name just a few.

Proceeds from this event support the humanitarian efforts of City of Hope and its "Spirit of Life" Endowment Fund for Middle Tennessee. This fund provides for Middle Tennesseans who need the quality care and treatment provided by City of Hope. Inspired and supported by a philanthropic volunteer movement, City of Hope is dedicated to the prevention, treatment and cure of cancer and other life-threatening diseases through innovative research and patient care.
