Big Love, Big Heart |
Tracy Byrd's Big Bass Tournament, a fundraising event for the Nashville Police Athletic League (P.A.L.), came to Old Hickory Lake. In addition to donating twenty dollars from each tournament entry fee to P.A.L., he also gives ten cents from the sale of each "Lifestyles of The Not So Rich & Famous" fishing lure to Special Olympics International. Tracy's third single from his Big Love album is "Don't Love Make A Diamond Shine." There was catfish frying, corn roasting and over a dozen inner-city karate kids demonstrating their commitment to excellence and discipline by performing impressive karate drills (kids under 10 breaking bricks with their fists!). Before the big bass weigh-in finish, Tracy took the stage and performed an intimate eight song acoustic set for the tournament spectators. The tournament winner was Gallatin native, Trey Bain, who caught a ten pound large mouth bass and chose between two OMC bass boats worth over $27,000 each. Other winners who placed won over $9,000 in cash prizes. Tracy will host a celebrity "Homecoming Weekend" in Beaumont, TX on October 10-12, which will include a golf and fishing tournament and a concert at the South Texas State Fair. |
