Zona Jones - BLUER THAN BLUE hits Radio this week!
(Nashville, TN) - Rocky Comfort Records recording artist, Zona Jones, hits country radio this week with "Bluer Than Blue," written by Randy Goodrum and produced by James Stroud This is the Southeast Texas native's 2nd single release from his upcoming studio album, "Prove Me Right", expected out May 19th 2009.
"Michael Johnson has been one of my favorite singer/songwriters since I was a kid. He had a huge hit with BLUER THAN BLUE on both the Pop & AC charts in 1978. I think "Blue" stayed at No. 1 on the AC chart for at least 3 weeks. I have always thought it would be cool to re-cut the song but worried I would not be able to do it justice. One morning, I was in Nashville having breakfast with my producer, James Stroud. We were talking about song ideas for our upcoming recording session over coffee, I mentioned "Blue" to James. He loved the song and seemed intrigued with the idea (I didn't know it at the time but James had played drums on a couple of Michael's records in the early 80's and was very familiar with his music). As we were walking out of the restaurant that morning, Michael Johnson walked in. James stopped to say hello and then introduced me to Michael. It was just one of those surreal, ah ha moments...I knew then we had to give it a try....and a few weeks later we went in to the studio and cut it. I just hope our version makes Michael (and Randy) proud of what we did."
