NBC IS FIRST TO CELEBRATE THE HOLIDAYS AND LIFTS THE VOICES OF JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, SHANIA TWAIN AND HARRY CONNICK JR. IN SONG FOR WIDE RANGE OF MUSICAL SPECIALS ON THANKSGIVING WEEK
BURBANK - October 28, 2003 - Thanksgiving week will be even more of a treat on NBC as the Peacock Network offers a rainbow of musical events and a spectrum of styles showcasing popular singing artists Justin Timberlake, Shania Twain and Harry Connick Jr. from Tuesday, November 25 through Thanksgiving night on November 27.
"We are proud to be able to present such a unique line-up of family programming during the Thanksgiving holiday week," said Jeff Gaspin, Executive Vice President Alternative Series, Specials, Longform and Program Strategy for NBC. "These specials will showcase three of the biggest names in music today performing their biggest hits as well as audience favorites in an intimate and personal setting, one that their fans may never have had the opportunity to experience before."
Kicking off the festivities on Tuesday, November 25 (9-10 p.m. ET), NBC will spotlight the multi-talented and award winning artist Justin Timberlake in a one-hour special during which Timberlake will take audiences into his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee for a night of music and memories. In his first solo network television special, the superstar will host a personal tour of his hometown, highlighting Memphis' musical legacy and perform several of his biggest hits from his multi-platinum debut solo album "Justified," including "Rock Your Body," and "Cry Me a River," as well as "Let's Stay Together."
The special is produced by Greg Sills Productions. Executive producers are Lynn Harless, Paul Harless and Johnny Wright. Greg Sills and Sonia Muckle served as producers and Bruce Gowers directed the special.
On Wednesday, Nov. 26 (9-10 p.m.), Shania Twain will return to NBC for her second network special, taped from Nashville, Tennessee. With a more intimate concert performance, Twain will perform unique renditions of her old and new favorites with her friend, multiple Grammy-winner Alison Krauss and Union Station for a special show that will appeal to all ages.
Currently on her first world tour in four years, Twain is riding the wave of her enormously successful #1 release "UP!," which has already sold over 8 million copies and spawned the hit singles "I'm Gonna Getcha Good!, "UP!," "Forever and For Always" and "She's Not Just a Pretty Face" which is currently climbing the charts.
Twain's previous album "Come On Over" is the most successful female solo album of all time with worldwide sales of over 34 million. "Come On Over" included infectious hit singles such as, "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!," "From This Moment On," "You're Still The One," and "That Don't Impress Me Much."
The special is being produced by Fig Leaf Productions in association with Catalyst Entertainment. Cliff Burnstein, Peter Mensch, Dan Braun and Marc Reiter are Executive Producers along with Carol Donovan and Beth McCarthy Miller. The special will be directed by Beth McCarthy Miller.
Multi-platinum-selling and Grammy-winning music artist Harry Connick Jr. (who also stars in the recurring role of Leo on NBC's comedy "Will & Grace") toasts the holidays with guest stars Grammy-winner Marc Anthony (Best Tropical Latin Performance, "Contra La Corriente"), Oscar-winner Whoopi Goldberg (NBC's "Whoopi") and multi-Tony-winner Nathan Lane ("The Producers") in a new one-hour, Christmas-themed special taped in New York City. An artist of many talents - singer, musician, composer and actor - Connick brings them all in focus in a spirited showcase of his spectrum of musical styles. The holiday celebration boasts traditional and untraditional performances that reflect Connick's New Orleans jazz and funk roots. In addition, the special coincides with the release of his new CD, "Harry for the Holidays," in time for the festive season. Also joining Connick is gospel singer Kim Burrell and the Harry Connick Jr. Band. Connick, Brad Lachman and Ann Marie Wilkins are the executive producers and Bruce Gowers is the director of this special from Brad Lachman Productions.
