R.O.P.E. Award Winners
The following were the winners of last nights awesome R.O.P.E. Awards Show held at the Music City Sheraton Hotel here in Nashville, Tn. I will be sending out an editorial in the coming days on the events of the evening.
Business - I am proud to say that I was honored with the award, but there were more deserving people in the category, such as Patsy Bradley, Rose Drake, Frank Oakley, Shelby Singeton and Eugene. I was blessed to be a part of this grouping.
Media - The winner was a tie with both Ann Tant and Smokey Smith each taking home their award. The others in the category were Tom 'Cat' Reeder, Walt Trott and Bill Wence.
Songwriter - The winner was Leona Williams. Leona was in Branson performing, so her friend, Grand Ole Opry legend Jean Shepard accepted for Leona. The other greats in the category were, Billy Henson, Dickey Lee, Hugh "X" Lewis, and Kent Westberry.
Musician - The winner and I am so happy for my dear friend was legendary steel guitarist John Hughey. Others in the category were, D.J. Fontana, Jerry Kennedy, Cliff Parker and Ronnie Reno.
Entertainer - The winner was Jeannie Seely. Others in the category were, Bill Anderson, Tommy Cash, Stonewall Jackson, Charlie Louvin and God Rest His Soul, Porter Wagoner.
Mac Wiseman Nightingale Award - Eugene Ward and Jean Stromatt.
