About
A true performer with an explosive stage persona, Newfield's current tour and new album, What Am I Waiting For, mark her first foray into solo territory since her departure from Trick Pony, the platinum-selling band that earned four top 20 singles, an ACM Best New Artist award, and an army of fans for their rabble-rousing honky-tonk brand of country music. What Am I Waiting For debuted at #2 on Billboard's Top Country Albums Chart and entered the Billboard Top 200 chart in the top 10 following its August 5th release. Produced by Tony Brown (George Strait, Brooks & Dunn, Reba McEntire), the new album showcases Newfield's soulful, powerful vocals and immense songwriting talent. She co-wrote 6 of the 10 songs on the album, including the lead single, "Johnny And June," which reached inside the top 15 on the country charts and established Newfield among the highest ranks of female country artists; along with Miranda Lambert, Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood. Newfield is one of only four solo women in country to have had a Top 10 single in 2008. She is also the first female to score a Top 10 hit with her debut single since Taylor Swift went to No. 5 with "Tim McGraw." What Am I Waiting For was called one of the year's best country albums by People, and it garnered rave reviews from The New York Times, USA Today, Billboard, Blender, Country Weekly and more. Recently, Newfield was nominated for 5 ACM Awards, making her the most nominated female of 2009.
