Beehive, The 60's Musical Is As Sweet As Honey!
By Glenda S. Paradee

The 43rd production, Beehive, The 60's Musical, at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre is truely a great musical performance. This musical celebrates the decade of peace, love and rock and roll and is a dynamic, nostalgic and fun-filled action-packed musical tribute to the legendary girl singers of the 1960's.

With over 40 of the greatest girl singer hits including "My Boyfriend's Back", "One Fine Day", "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow", "Where Did Our Love Go", "Come See About Me", "I Hear A Symphony", "It's My Party", "I'm Sorry", "You Don't Own Me", "Where The Boys Are", "The Beat Goes On", "Downtown", "To Sir With Love", "Wishin' And Hopin", "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me", "Proud Mary", "Respect", "Piece Of My Heart", "Try (Just A Little Bit Harter)", "Ball And Chain", and "Me And Bobby McGee". These tunes are a tribute to Aretha Franklin, The Supremes, The Chiffons, Lesley Gore, Connie Francis, Petula Clark, Janis Joplin.

My personal favorite of the show were the Janis Joplin numbers performed by Emily Cara Portune.

The starring members of the show included Teanna Berry, Alicia Campbell, Patrice Covington, Kate Feerick, Elizabeth Gross, Emily Cara Portune, Courtney Washington and Jillian Nyhan Zygo. They all did a fantastic job on every performance. The Beehive Band is Bill Bellamak, Guitar, Beth Burrier, Keyboards/Conductor, Kathryn fellow, Bass, David Jolley, Percussion, John Knowlton, Guitar, and Mackie Snee, Reeds. These folks can Rock and Roll.

The show had me singing along, tapping my toes and clapping my hands. It also put a big smile on my face. The costumes/wigs were also wonderful with the "Out of Sight" style of the 60's. The choreography also really added to show. I would suggest for everybody to make some time and attend this show. You will be glad you did because it will bring back many fond memories. The standing ovation at the end of the show was truely deserved. Bravo to the all performers of the show and The Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre for having the show.

Also, I would like to add that the buffet meal they serve at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre is awesome, with a wonderful selection of delicious food and deserts. The dining service staff did a terrific job. Kudos to the chefs and dining room staff.
